Hello all- Today I will reach the half-way point on my novel! So to celebrate, I'm posting an excerpt from the book.
“Ethan? The door doesn’t work.” Karenina's voice quivered as she spoke.
“What do you mean the door doesn’t work?” Ethan’s words came forced and fearful.
“I mean the door won’t open!” Karenina could feel her body starting to fill with adrenaline, pounding on the door.
“Let me try, here move.” Ethan reached in and gave the handle a firm tug. Karenina pushed a rebellious piece of hair out of her eyes and glanced around for something to aid their escape.
“The windows!” Karenina hurled herself across the room to the large picture windows on the opposite wall. Instead of brittle glass however, the windows seemed to be made of a transparent metal, cold and unyielding. She picked up her abandoned calculus text book and hurled it at the dark surface. The book simply bounced off and landed at the foot of her settee, useless against her windows. In her rising panic, she grabbed her bedside table and slammed it into the barrier. The backlash of the energy went through the table and sent Karenina landing on her backside.
“We can’t get out. Oh my god, I’m trapped in my room with a stranger and I can’t leave. What is going on here!”
